Toolbars in the Windows 11 taskbar
In Windows 10, a right-click on the taskbar → Toolbars → New toolbar turned any folder into a menu with subfolders. Windows 11 removed toolbars, the Desktop toolbar included. No setting brings them back.
Get your folder menu back
Download and start
Download SystemTrayMenu and open it, it sets itself up. It then sits as a button in the taskbar and as an icon in the notification area.
Choose a folder
At first the menu shows your desktop, like the Desktop toolbar. Another folder: right-click the icon → “Settings …” → General → Menu folder → “Change …”.
Open the menu
Click SystemTrayMenu in the taskbar or press Ctrl+Win: the folder opens as a menu, subfolders open next to it. Typing searches, subfolders included.
To keep the button there: Settings → General → Startup → “Start at login”. Keep the folder in OneDrive and every computer has the same menu. Try it free for 14 days, then €2.99: pay once, no subscription.
